What is Equity Crowdfunding?
In recent years a new form of equity-based investing called Reg CF has been created. It allows private early-stage companies to raise money from all Americans through an online process called “crowdfunding.”
The idea of crowdfunding is not new. Online portals like Kickstarter and GoFundMe have been doing donation and incentive-based crowdfunding successfully for years. But Reg CF is different; it is an equity-based model in which investors receive a percentage of ownership, a financial stake in the company or some other security with the opportunity to earn a return on investment.
